Start Enjoying Later Life!

Redcar, famous for its vertical pier and ‘lemon top ice cream’, is now home to Cleveland Fire Brigade’s new over 65’s Later Life Club (LLC). Following the success of a similar project; Hartlepool’s Befriending Service, this initiative targets socially isolated individuals living in Redcar aged 65 and over.

The LLC will meet monthly at Redcar Fire Station. Activities include workshops with local speakers and makers, games such as quizzes and bingo and discussions. The group even enjoy trips out across our beautiful area from local beauty spots to getting fish and chips by the sea!

The LLC is funded by the National Lottery who support the good work we do by using funding raised by National Lottery players.

Know someone who’s ready to start enjoying Later Life? This is a referred in service so individuals (or organisations on their behalf) will need to complete a referral form first and send to the Befriending team: laterlifeclub@clevelandfire.gov.uk The referral will be considered and the individual will be contacted in due course.

Why is CFB delivering this service?

Research links social isolation to numerous health risks, including heart disease, depression, Alzheimer’s, cognitive decline and even death. Conversely, engaging in social activities can boost people’s mood, cognitive function, and overall well-being.
