About Middlesbrough District
The local authority area of Middlesbrough Borough Council is covered by three fire stations at Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough and the Marine Fire Station (which is beside the Transporter Bridge).
The District, over the last few years, has led and pioneered the "Whatever it Takes" (WIT) initiative which targets the root cause of fires.
The WIT initiative was initially us working in partnership with many other agencies and was aimed at tackling fire among other community safety problems.
It has now been adopted by each of the four local authorities and will be rolled out in each borough council area over the next few years.
Geographically, Middlesbrough District is one of the smallest districts but demographically it has the densest population of our four districts.
It is made up of the Beckfield, Thorntree, Ayresome, Gresham, Middlehaven, Beechwood, Park, North Ormesby and Brambles Farm, Coulby Newham, University, Clairville, Stainton and Thornton, Hemlington, Brookfield, Pallister, Linthorpe, Kader, Acklam, Marton, Nunthorpe, Park End, Ladgate and Marton West wards.
