Cleveland Fire Authority
What is Cleveland Fire Authority? 
Cleveland Fire Authority comprises of 23 Elected Councillors from the Borough Councils of Hartlepool (4 Members), Middlesbrough (6 Members), Redcar & Cleveland (6 Members) and Stockton on Tees (7 Members). 
 
The Members are appointed by their respective Borough Council.  The Authority is currently chaired by Councillor Peter Porley with Councillor Mrs Jean O'Donnell as the Vice Chair.   The political proportionality of the Authority is 12 Labour, 4 Conservative, 4 Liberal Democrat, 1 Ingleby Barwick Independent, 1 East Cleveland Independent and 1 Hartlepool Administration Group (Ind).  See Member 2008/09 for full details. 
 
What do we do?
The Authority are responsible for the setting the strategic direction, policies and priorities and oversee the monitoring of the Brigades operations, performance and finances.  This is done through a committee structure whose remits are outlined in "Who we are and what we do".
 
Cleveland Fire Authority Meetings are normally held at Fire Brigade HQ, Endeavour House, Stockton Road, Hartlepool, TS25 5TB.  Members of the Public and press are welcome to attend meetings, although they can be excluded when confidential information is to be discussed.  Please telephone 01429 874076 to confirm dates and times of meetings or check your local authority noticeboard.
