Cleveland Fire Brigade has been chosen as an official partner of the National Citizen Service (NCS) to deliver life changing experiences with 60 young people expected to take part before the end of the year.
Alongside a fun residential course where teenagers can take part in activities such as raft building and canoeing as well as learning important life skills, there will be the unique chance to undergo firefighting training with the Brigade. A social action project will follow allowing young people to put something back into their community.
The first course starts on 19 September and we’re looking for participants now. The course will particularly benefit those interested in volunteering and community action. Participation looks great on CVs and UCAS recommends referencing NCS on personal statements when applying for university places.
Sue Knott, Commissioned Services Manager for Cleveland Fire Brigade, said: “We are delighted we have been chosen to partner with National Citizen Service to deliver some great opportunities to young people in Teesside.
“The aim of this course is to give young people a life changing experience and equip them with new skills in confidence and leadership which will not only benefit them but their local community.”
