There are two fire appliances based at Thornaby:-
Echo One – Dennis-Sabre Fire Appliance
This appliance has 270 Brake Horse Power with Anti Lock Brakes and Traction Control
It is fitted with a 4,500 litres ( 1,000 gallons) a minute water pump.
It carries 1800 litres (400 gallons) of water, a 13.5 metre ladder, firefighting equipment and rescue equipment.
Crewed by 5 trained firefighters.

Echo Three – Scannia P94d
This appliance has 270 Brake Horse Power and Anti Lock Brakes and Traction Control.
It is fitted with a 3,375 litres (750 gallons) a minute water pump.
It carries 1800 litres (400 gallons) of water, a 10 metre ladder, firefighting equipment and rescue equipment.
It is always crewed by 5 trained firefighters.
Approximate cost £100,000.
Echo Zero - Avon Inflatable Water Rescue Boat
Also based at Thornaby is Echo Zero, which is an Avon Inflatable Water Rescue Boat powered by a 15 horse power, 4 stroke outboard motor. Echo Zero is transported by a landrover also based at Thornaby Station.
Liz Heslop is the Station Clerk at Thornaby Station and her duties include station administration, reception duties and secretarial duties.Liz has worked at Thornaby Fire Station since 1996.
