STATION MANAGER
The Station Manager at Coulby Newham is Andy Witham.  Andy has served in the Fire Service for 22 years and began his career as as Fire Fighter at Grangetown Fire Station.

APPLIANCES & PERSONNEL
Coulby Newham Fire Station has both standard fire appliances and specialised appliances. To meet its role in the community the station is currently staffed by 40 wholetime personnel 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by 4 watches.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
The station is heavily involved in community activities, and has pioneered groundbreaking education programmes.
  • 'Learn and Live' is a campaign targeting new and inexperienced drivers with the aim of reducing road deaths and injuries. It has already been delivered to approximately 3000 young people throughout the brigade area and is attracting national interest.
  •  Directed at small numbers of convicted offenders, the station also runs a 'TWOC' awareness course in conjunction with South Tees Youth Offending Service which highlights the damage to society of this dangerous criminal activity.
  • Since October 2004, Coulby has been a registered centre for delivery of 'Heartstart' resuscitation courses on behalf of the British Heart Foundation.
  • Work is currently underway to utilise the skills of station personnel in rope rescue in developing outward bound activities for young people from diverse backgrounds. The objective is to promote self-confidence, teamwork and other social skills whilst linking in with other youth engagement involvement by the brigade
 
In addition to providing emergency response to incidents, Cleveland Fire Brigade aim to help the community in various other ways including : -
 
 
 
 
 

STATION AREA
The area covered by Coulby Fire Station lies predominantly within the boundaries of Middlesbrough Borough Council and consists of twelve local wards i.e. Acklam, Beckfield, Brookfield, Coulby Newham, Hemlington, Kader, Ladgate, Marton, Marton West, Nunthorpe, Park End and Stainton & Thornton.  These wards range from areas of high social deprivation to areas of executive housing.  A robust community network exists incorporating local Councillors, neighbourhood forums and agency partnerships.
 
The Station also mobilises jointly with neighbouring appliances from Middlesbrough, Thornaby and Grangetown and provides specialist rope rescue and bariatric (the lifting of obese casualties) services to the whole Brigade.
 
Specific risks within the Station area include:
 
  •  A19, A174 & A171 carrying a high volume of traffic including chemical tankers
  • Hemlington Lake 
  • Deprived areas posing the ongoing risk of violence to staff
  • Cross border mobilisation into North Yorkshire and Durham
