The Station Manager at Thornaby & Yarm is Jimmy Ruse. Jimmy joined the Brigade in 1984, and has served at various Stations. Prior to Managing Thornaby Jimmy was a Watch Manager at Coulby Newham. In 1994 Jimmy was awarded the Simon Award for Excellence from the Fire Service College. He also received a Community award in 2005 for Learn & Live. Having being involved in Road Safety Jimmy created the Learn & Live DVD, which is being used throughout many Fire & Rescue services, as a Road Safety Tool.

Thornaby Fire Station has 2
appliances staffed by five personnel. These are 14 personnel to a watch with each watch having 2 Crew managers & 1 Watch maanger, staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
