Billingham Station has prioritised 4 out of its 7 wards for targeted HFSC's. Using predominantly cold calling initiatives, aims to achieve 220 HFSC's per month or 55 per watch per month. Since HFSC's started Billingham Station has completed approx 4000 (1754 in 2004 and 1979 in 2005 to date).
3 of the 4 prioritised wards now have HFSC coverage of over 33%.
The station is proactively involved in local schools and has a continuous fire safety education programme.
AAI's have been carried out in hot spot areas eg Port Clarence throughout the year. Crews carry out active patrols in to designated areas where there have been increasing trends in F1 and F3 fires during core times, any rubbish or other identified fire risks that are seen are reported to the relevant agencies for rapid removal. The station has also used the Crime Stoppers Initiative following Arson Attcks in the Port Clarence area, with some successful intelligence being reported leading to arrests.
