Each station has a risk profile dealing with properties and roads posing significant risks in terms of fire and road safety. The district covers 26 wards made up of predominately executive and privately owned  housing with smaller pockets of social and rented accommodation.

Stockton District Manager Tony Churchill is responsible for all fire brigade operational and business activity within the district overseeing a challenging range of life risk. The district provides cover for the A66, A174 and A19 major arterial roadways  with the highest volume of road tanker movements in the UK, 22 top-tier Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) chemical sites, a major airport (Durham Tees Valley), a large out of town shopping centre (Teesside Park), a high security prison, a major power station and provides water rescue services for large parts of the River Tees.
