Queens Meadow Complex Redevelopment

Cleveland fire-C-09-02 logoCleveland Fire Authority is now at a crossroads when it comes to provision of the buildings, resources and training that are needed both now and in the future to provide the fire and rescue service that Teesside needs.

The existing building and facilities on the Queens Meadow Business Park at Hartlepool are no longer viable. Not only  would the high and spiralling cost of repairs run into several million pounds but they would also still fall short of meeting the growing needs of a 21st century service.

So the Authority is planning to invest £12m in a new Training and Technical Hub.   The purpose-built building and external facilities will bring all non-operational services, including administration and technical resources, under one roof and provide the state-of-the-art training facilities needed to ensure the highest possible safety standards.

The funding for the Project has come from Government Grant and the Brigade’s Capital reserves to ensure that the Project will not impact negatively on the annual budget and will support on going financial efficiencies going forward.

The new Training and Technical Hub will accommodate;

  • Learning and Development Centre
  • External Training Resources
  • Administration and Management Services
  • Technical Resources Centre

A Gym and Restaurant will be provided within the new complex which will be open to Queens Meadow Business Park occupiers.

Externally, there will be very little difference or impact on the surroundings as the new Hub will also be a two-storey building, its size largely un-altered with considerable attention being paid to screening and landscaping. The current seven acre site will be enlarged by an additional 2.7 acres, purchased primarily to provide land for tree planting and landscaping.

It is planned that construction of the first phase will start in April 2015 taking approximately twelve months.  All construction work will be completed in phases to minimise any possible impact on people in the area and to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.

We welcome any comments that you may have about the new Training and Technical Hub at Queens Meadow Business Park and are interested to hear your views.
