Hartlepool will host the Tall Ships race in August of 2010 with support from Cleveland Fire Brigade.
The Town will welcome the magnificent fleet of around 100 ships as the finishing point for the internationally acclaimed race held every summer in European waters. It will feature vessels from 15-20 countries, crewed by some 5-6,000 young people from over 30 countries.
As the main aim of the event is to provide opportunities for young people to develop their personal skills in challenging and memorable environments, the Brigade will be doing all it can to support the Town in helping young people to achieve as much as possible from the event.
Helen Williams Cleveland Fire Brigade Children and Young Person’s Services Manager said: “We're starting our support of the Tall Ships Event early by getting local young people to give us their views on how the Fire Brigade can best support the young people taking part in the event."
