Your station facilities:

We have a community room in which we can carry out presentations and courses. (Please see below what we are doing in your area).

We are always keen to welcome visitors to the Station, if you would like to come and look around, please contact us.

Contained within the rear yard at Redcar station are two Portacabins which are used specifically for the Brigade Youth Development Programme. From these facilities the Brigade Community Safety Department runs The Young Firefighters Association, The Local Intervention Fire Education (LIFE) Course and also the Prince’s Trust Course.

About Redcar and the Risks:

  • Approximately 139,500 people live in the area with most of the population concentrated in the Redcar and Greater Eston areas

  • Redcar has a world class economic industrial site alongside quality agricultural land. It is home to one of few sites in Western Europe with Special Development Status, Wilton International. This is the location of many of the world’s leading chemical and manufacturing companies including blue chip multinational companies. – Redcar Station staff train regularly on this site with SEMPCORP (On site industrial utilities and services company) for every eventuality.

  • Coastline. Redcar station is called out often to many unusual incidents that occur on the coastline from rescuing stranded seals to dealing with unknown hazardous chemicals washed up on the beach.

  • Racecourse. One of only two in the country with a mile long straight. During race days a high number of visitors attend the Races greatly increasing the risk of fire for us.

  • Learn and Live – Road safety presentations  targeted at young drivers to try and reduce the amount of road traffic collision fatalities

  • Road Safety Checks – run in partnership with Redcar and Cleveland Council at various locations throughout the District where safety checks are carried out on members of the public’s vehicles.

  • Team Building Courses – for youth organisations/ clubs.

For further details of any of the above please contact us on 01642 482222

Community Groups

We attend local community forums on a regular basis in conjunction with the Police, Council, Housing association and residents to discuss local issues, report on incidents we attended or offer our assistance in improving the quality of life for local people.

If you are aware of any other Community Groups that you feel would benefit from our input, please don’t hesitate to contact us at the Station.

Weeks of Action

In the District, every few weeks throughout the year ‘Weeks of Action’ are held in different ward areas. During Each ‘Week of Action’ all the Partnership agencies are involved  from stepping up rubbish removals from the identified ward areas, to holding Partnership Days with stalls, bouncy castles, alcohol and drug awareness work, dog chipping and other activities. Local people support these events and it is an excellent opportunity for Redcar Station staff to meet and interact with local residents and discuss the various services we can offer to them.

Arson Audits

All of our Watches "patrol"  all the wards within the Station boundary on a daily basis identifying fly tipping which could turn into a potential fire. Partnership agencies are then contacted to remove the unwanted waste. Premises where arson may be a problem are identified and contact is then made with the occupiers/ owners to see if there is any assistance the Brigade can offer, in helping to reduce the fire risk

Site Specific Risk Assessments

Staff from Redcar Station carry out risk assessments on a regular basis on many commercial premises throughout the station area. These risk assessments are not only to check if hazards still exist on these premises, but also give staff a vital familiarisation of the building, so in the event of any incident occurring in the future we are aware of the layout of the premises

We also visit premises which have excessive numbers of automatic fire alarm calls [AFA's] and offer advice on how to reduce the number of calls received.

If you need any advice/ information on any of the above subjects covered, or indeed anything with, which you think Cleveland Fire Brigade can help you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
