Partner agencies across Redcar and Cleveland have teamed up to offer an innovative one stop shop for advice on tackling anti-social behaviour.
From Monday people shopping on Westgate in Guisborough will be able to access help and guidance on their anti-social behaviour community problems from a list of experts.
The experts include Cleveland Fire Brigade, Redcar and Cleveland Council’s Anti-social Behaviour Team, Cleveland Police, Coast and Country Housing, UNITE and Safe in Tees Valley.
Neil Roberts, Cleveland Fire Brigade’s Community Liaison Officer for Redcar and Cleveland, explains:
“All of the agencies involved spend a great deal of time in the community promoting their work. This move into a shop, donated free of charge by local businessman Malcolm Griffiths for the week is a good chance to offer a new approach and allow people to access some guidance and advice from experts in tacking anti-social behaviour.
“Anti-social behaviour can be a blight on a community and by offering advice and help we can assist residents who may be suffering and under pressure.”
From Monday 22 February the shop on Westgate is open 10.00am to 4.00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, with a later session on Thursday 2.00pm to 8.00pm. This trial lasts for one week.
All are invited to drop in and speak to the experts on hand. No appointment is necessary. If successful, the partners hope to role the idea out to other venues in the area.
