If you are an employer, you should make sure you and your staff know what to do to prevent a fire in the workplace and how to escape if a fire does break out.
Make your workplace safer
There are three ways to make your workplace a safer place to be.
Know the law
In October 2006 the government introduced the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The changes were designed to make the law easier to comply with and understand. You also need to know about how we enforce legislation. The Brigade has guidance notes on various fire safety at work topics. If you have a specific enquiry in mind, please contact your local Fire Engineering Department for advice.
It makes business sense to improve fire safety in your workplace.
Tell us about serious risks. If you’re concerned about a fire risk which may be a danger to life (for instance a company or organisation disregarding fire safety practices) you should contact 01429 872311 immediately.
These risks may have serious implications and are dealt with quickly and in confidence by us. A ‘risk to life’ could include a disregard to fire safety practices, for example, blocked or locked fire exits.
For general enquiries contact the Fire Engineering Department on 01429 872311 during normal office hours or email FireEngineeringHelpdesk@clevelandfire.gov.uk.
