Fire brigade throws open its doors to the public through community event

Hundreds of young people, their families and members of the general public will get the chance to meet and greet their local fire brigade at an event being held in Hartlepool on Saturday 10 July.

Cleveland Fire Brigade’s Young Firefighters’ Association (YFA) will be throwing open the doors of Stranton Station in Hartlepool at a fun day aimed at strengthening already good relations with the local community.

The team is hosting this event at the station to show the many facets of today’s fire brigade and give people the chance to ask questions and participate in fun activities and safety lessons.

Some of the activities and stalls planned for Saturday 10 July from 11.00am – 3.00pm at Stranton Fire Station, Stockton Street, Hartlepool, TS24 7QY are:

Barbecue, Face painting, Hook a Duck, Tombola, Guess the name of the bear, squirt the targets, raffle, tuck shop, hydraulic platform, benevolent fund helmets, bouncy castle; climbing wall; Ride on a Fire Engine; Chip pan fire demo; Young Firefighters recruitment information stand; Fire Boat.

Kelly Reed, YFA coordinator, who is organising the event for Cleveland Fire Brigade, said:

“This is a wonderful chance to show the community that Cleveland Fire Brigade is about much more than responding to emergencies. We pride ourselves on being a valuable community partner and we hope this event demonstrates that.”
