Dozens of firefighters and staff from Cleveland Fire Brigade will be spending next week visiting young people across Teesside delivering important fire safety messages as part of a national week of action.
National Child Safety Week runs from the 21st to the 27th June and is a week long campaign run through the CAPT, the Child Accident Prevention Trust.
Brigade staff will be attending schools, children’s centres and other youth groups across Teesside to deliver a fire safety message with the main theme being “Make Time for Safety”.
Lee Toogood, Children & Families Advocate for Cleveland Fire Brigade, said:
“It’s important we team up to support this national campaign and this gives us a great opportunity to meet hundreds, if not thousands of young people, and ask them to Make Time for Safety.
“We have leaflets and advice to give out and will be on hand to talk to young people about staying safe.”
“Make Time for Safety” contains messages around home fire safety, checking smoke alarms, fire escape routes, over loading sockets and general safety at home and other places young people visit.

Child Safety Week is the Child Accident Prevention Trust’s flagship community education campaign. It aims to raise awareness of the number of accidents that seriously injure or kill children and how to prevent them.
