Hundreds of young people, their families and members of the general public will get the chance to meet and greet their local fire brigade at an event being held in June.
Cleveland Fire Brigade’s Learning and Development Team will be throwing open the doors of their Grangetown Centre in Middlesbrough at a fun day aimed at strengthening the already good relations with the local community.
The team hosts this annual event at the training centre to show the many facets of today’s fire brigade and give people the chance to ask questions and participate in fun activities and safety lessons. They are joined by community partners and agencies who take the chance to meet the public at the popular event.
Some of the activities and stalls planned for Wednesday 2 June from 11.00am – 4.00pm at Grangetown Learning and Development Centre located on Slip Road/Church Lane (TS6 9AA) are:
Climbing Frame; Speed Ball; Rocket Ball; Tag Rugby; Cricket; Play with a football not fire; Learn & Live Presentation; Ride on a Fire Engine; Wear a BA mask; Chip pan fire demo; Road Safety stand; Crime Prevention stand; CFB recruitment information stand; Learn Direct stand; RNLI Volunteers stand; Redcar & Cleveland Police stand; Redcar & Cleveland Council stand; PCT stand; Sure Start stand; Youth Development Stand.
Kevin Readhead, Head of Learning and Development for Cleveland Fire Brigade, said:
“This is a wonderful chance to show the community that Cleveland Fire Brigade is about much more than responding to emergencies. We pride ourselves on being a valuable community partner and we hope this event demonstrates that. “
