Teesside Junior Football Alliance (more..) Formed in 1974 and expanding year on year, this League is one of the biggest in the UK and Europe. Matches are generally played on Sundays, beginning on the second weekend in September and ending in May.
The League caters for players between the ages of 7 years and 18 years who compete in clearly defined Under 8 to Under 18 age groups.
Season 2006/2007 brings with it another increase in membership. 510 Teams are currently entered in 47 Divisions. We are expecting nearly 10,000 players to be Registered throughout those Teams this season.
The League, although predominantly catering for junior Football Clubs within the Teesside area, extends it's boundaries to include Clubs from Durham and North Yorkshire. The League has to Affiliate to two County Football Associations (North Riding CFA and the Durham CFA).
In addition to the normal League fixtures the League also runs two additional Cup Competitions (the TJFA League Cup and the TJFA Challenge Cup). Generally these "knockout" Cup Competitions are contested on the first Sunday of each month throughout the playing season. We are delighted to announce once again this season that all Finals of both prestigious competitions will be played at Middlesbrough FC Training Headquarters, Rockliffe Park, Hurworth, Near Darlington in May 2007. Hopefully twenty-two Cup Finals will again be played at one location in ONE DAY!
Many of the 90 plus Clubs, comprising 510 Teams, have attained Charter Standard, Community Club or Development Club status and these meritous accolades are fully supported by the Leagues Management Committee who believe that these Clubs are catering effectively for the youth of today. Please note that this League will only accept, as a minimum, Charter Standard Clubs from 2007/2008 onwards.
