What is re-use of information
The Government has passed a law (which came into effect on the 1st July 2005) governing the re-use of public sector information, 'The Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2005'.
'Re-use' means using information for the purpose other than the purpose for which the document was originally produced. This includes copying, adapting, developing or re-using for commercial purpose.
Receiving information under Freedom of Information is for 'information use only', and does not give an automatic right to re-use the information provided from the request.
A public sector organisation is not actually obliged to make information available for re-use, if the re-use of any information was approved, certain conditions could be applied. Re-use of information has to be done in relation with the regulations.
How do we deal with your request?
Cleveland Fire Brigade (CFB) must respond to your request within 20 working days, if your request is received after 5pm, it will be treated as being received the next working day. This period of time may need to be extended depending on the nature of the request.
CFB can refuse a re-use of information request, in the case of the information owned by a 3rd party, or being exempt from disclosure under Freedom of Information.
If CFB refuse your request for information, CFB will write to you and explain the reason for refusal.
CFB can apply conditions of the re-use of information.
A charge could be levied depending on the extent of the information request or the reason for the re-use.
