Elected members

Introduction

The Cleveland Fire Authority was established on 1 April 1996, as a Combined Fire Authority and is responsible for the provision of fire and rescue services to the areas covered by the borough councils of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton on Tees.

The 23 Members of the Authority are elected Members nominated by the four constituent Borough Councils – Hartlepool (4 Members), Middlesbrough (6 Members), Redcar & Cleveland (6 Members) and Stockton on Tees (7 Members).

The current Chair of Cleveland Fire Authority is Councillor Mrs Jean O’Donnell with Councillor Robbie Payne as Vice Chair.

Councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher – Labour

Councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher was appointed to Cleveland Fire Authority in June 2010 by Hartlepool Borough Council where he represents the Rift House Ward.

He is a member of the Authority’s Audit & Governance Committee, Appeals and Member Development Group.

Councillor Akers-Belcher is the Authority’s Children & Young People Champion and the Hartlepool Local Strategic Partnership representative.
