Cleveland Fire Brigade are committed to mainstreaming equality and diversity in all that we do. Part of the legal requirements with which we need to comply is the Race, Disability and Gender Equality Duties. These Duties require all public services to consult with employees and stakeholders, to promote equality and eliminate discrimination.
An essential element of the Equality Duties is the requirement to undertake Equality Impact Assessments (EIA's) on everything we do. This involves screening all our policies and procedures for anything that may inadvertently discriminate against any group or groups of people. The requirement to Equality Impact Assess is also part of achieving level 3 of the Equality Standard for Local Government.
Within CFB we screen all policies, practices, services and procedures against the six strands of equality. We look to see if there are any adverse, neutral or positive impacts for what we do.
Below is summary guidance and the standard EIA form to be used.
