Cleveland Fire Brigade’s successful Prince’s Trust Team Programme has a new course starting on Tuesday 6 May and is looking for prospective young people who want to gain skills and work experience to kick-start their lives.
The free, 12 week personal development course is open to 16-25 year olds living in the Redcar and East Cleveland area and would particularly suit those who have not yet reached their educational goals or are currently unemployed.
The programme can help open up new doors for young people by providing work experience, practical skills and qualifications.
Les Jones, Head of Community Safety with Cleveland Fire Brigade, said, “Our Prince’s Trust Team Course provides a fantastic opportunity for young people who want to kick-start their lives.
“More than 70% of unemployed people who complete the programme go on to jobs, training or further education within three months, which is a fantastic result and shows that it can really change a young person’s life.
“The course is split into sections and includes helping to develop team working and communication skills, uncover hidden talents, help in making a post programme development plan such as a new CV and job searching, a week away at a residential activity centre, a week’s work placement, undertaking a project based in your local community as well as a chance to learn practical Fire Brigade skills such as hose running, ladders and search and rescue.
“It is truly an inspiring course for any individual and I would urge anyone who is interested to get in touch to find out more including how they can sign up.”
