Cleveland Fire Brigade is appealing for organisations and individuals raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity by taking part in a golf event during the summer.

The Annual Charity Golf Day will be held at the prestigious Wynyard Golf Club on Thursday 19 July, when teams of four will battle it out over the 18-hole Wellington Course which played host to the Seve Trophy in 2005.

Teams will tee-off at 1pm in a ‘shotgun’ start under ‘Texas Scramble’ rules. Organisations can enter a team of four while individuals entering will be allocated a team.  The day will start with golfers receiving coffee on arrival and after their round of golf a three-course meal will be served up in the clubhouse. There will be top prizes for the winning teams.

Gary Cawley, Director of Business Development with Cleveland Fire Brigade, said: “Our Annual Charity Golf Day presents us with the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for a very worthwhile cause

Cleveland Fire Brigade’s Chief Fire Officer Ian Hayton will be taking part in the Charity Golf Day.

“The Fire Fighters Charity supports serving and former fire service personnel and their families during their times of need. Over the years the Charity has assisted many firefighters to improve their quality of life following accidents and injuries and has been a lifeline to thousands of people and with no government funding, the charity is completely reliant upon donations from the general public and fire community.”

“It is always a great day and we are delighted that Wynyard Golf Club is making available its excellent Wellington Course which is a good test for any golfer. I really do hope that local businesses, organisations and individuals come forward to support the event to help us raise as much money as possible.

Anyone interested in taking part is urged to get in touch straight away as the event is restricted to 18 teams (72 golfers). Entry is £320 per team of four or £80 for an individual. This includes green fees, a bacon roll and a three course meal.
