Fire investigation into fire in Eaglescliffe concludes

The joint fire investigation into the cause of the fire on Durham Road, Eaglescliffe, between Cleveland Police and Cleveland Fire Brigade has reached the conclusion that the fire was a deliberate act.

The Fire which occurred at approximately 1.45am on Saturday 19 May in a row of shops in Eaglescliffe, known locally as Orchard shops, caused extensive damage to the retailers resulting in a loss to the community and an uncertain future for the employees involved.

Cleveland Fire Brigade and the Police are asking the local community to come forward with any information they may have in relation to this incident and contact  Detective Sergeant Stuart Hodgson of Stockton CID on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Tony Churchill District Manager for Stockton said: “We are asking people to come forward with any information to this devastating fire; we cannot accept that lives are affected by such malicious acts and the sooner we receive information the better. We will work closely with Cleveland Police to identify the person(s) responsible for this.”
